What is Hypnosis?

There can be allot to write about hypnosis, and more information to read about this subject than you probably have time right now, so let me give you a highlight of what it is and how it works.

Many people think that hypnosis is a state of relaxation that they may associate with sleep, but actually it's the opposite. Hypnosis is a concentrative state of mind that allows such intense focus (although relaxed focused) that you have the ability to add suggestion for change. Hypnosis has been associated with that sleep coma state because of stage hypnotism, and although the participants look like they are being controlled by the hypnotist, they actually hear everything that is happening.

The new idea of hypnosis can break itself down as a state of mind where you are focusing all of your energy, mind power, and concentration on changing a specific item, such as weight loss or anxiety. Most people know “when they put their minds to it” they can accomplish, well, almost anything. Hypnosis works in much the same manner, allowing you to “put your mind to it" and accelerate change.

The one difference between consciously "putting your mind to it" and hypnosis, is that under hypnosis, you are actually using your subconscious mind. The subconscious mind is where all the data is stored, emotions are kept, and life forming conditions are created. The conscious mind can want things, but the subconscious mind is where changes need to be made to make them happen. Usually your conscious analytical mind will want change but your actions say different, and they are linked with the subconscious mind, which is why conscious change can be so hard. Under hypnosis we speak directly to the subconscious mind, and although it can still reject any suggestion it wants, it accelerates the change process.

The Hypnotists acts like a knowledgeable coach, one who knows how to get you to the most concentrative state possible, and has the skill set and linguistic ability to communicate with you in this state to start the process of change.

Most people are intrigued by the word hypnosis, and may even have created expectations on what it does. I have client after client who says they are skeptical of hypnosis, but once they learn what it actually is, and what it actually does, they say “that makes sense”.

Also most people don't have enough times to discover themselves, and with Hypnosis you can experience any emotion, past experience, or situation that may have, or still is contributing to your area of change. Now if you really wanted to you can visit these same situations out of hypnosis, it's just that most of us are so busy with life we have a tough time turning our attention in.

So now you know that Hypnosis is actually just a concentrative focus of your mind, where you are hyper aware, and this allows for the subconscious mind (where everything is stored) to be accessed.

A note about change

When considering the idea of pleasure and pain, it is not so much physical as something that you either desire (pleasure) or forces you to change such as a job loss (pain). Combined with the belief structure of change (I will get a new job) you will notice your reality start to work toward making it happen.
